Background Profiling Final Draft: Michael Aguirre
Michael Jules Aguirre, current City Attorney for the city of San Diego, California, is known to have an erratic temperament. The city attorney’s lawyer staff has had a turn over rate of over 50 percent since Aguirre’s election in December of 2004, a surprise since Aguirre had high credentials for the job.
A San Diego native, born September 12, 1949, Aguirree graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in 1971. In 1974, he earned his J.D. Degree from Boalt Hall at University of California: Berkley, and went on to serve in several offices after receiving his credentialing.
After working for the U.S. Attorney and the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, in 1980, Aguirre opened Aguirre and Myers Law Office with Patricia Myers. The firm made a 500 dollar campaign donation to Bob Filner for his run for Congress in 2001, a 250 dollar donation to the San Diego County Republican Party in 2002 (despite Aguirre being a registered Democrat), a 250 dollar donation to John Edwards in 2003, and a 250 dollar donation to Barbara Boxer for her run for Senate.
In the present, Aguirre works for the City of San Diego as City Attorney. His current cases are concerned with pensions and litigation of businesses in violation of laws.
Listed at working at the City Court Offices, Aguirre also lives in San Diego. He has two children from a previous marriage with Kathleen Jonas-Raya, which ended June 30, 1991.
